The Flute O’Clock duo was founded in 2002 by Karolina Balińska and Ewa Liebchen, both graduates of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where they attended Jadwiga Kotnowska flute class. At present the duo is formed by Ewa Liebchen and Rafał Jędrzejewski.
The Flute O’Clock duo was awarded different prizes at the international music competitions in the chamber music category. Both of the flutist are also the prizewinners of the flute competitions and festivals.
During the last years the duo was supported by various institutions such as The Polish Culture Foundation in Warsaw or Barbara Bielecka Foundation Musica Mundi. The duo has also won several scholarships and grants including, twice, The Minister of Culture and National Heritage Sholarship Program “Young Poland”.
The repertoire of the Flute O’Clock duo includes the music from early Baroque to the modern period. The duo pays particular attention to the contemporary music masterworks presenting the whole range of instruments from bass and alto flutes to piccolo.
The first record of the Flute O’Clock duo entitled “Now” was released in May 2010 by DUX Recording Producers. The CD was nominated for the Fryderyk Music Award 2011 (The Polish Society of the Phonographic Industry Award) and got an Award of Distinction for CD's of the Year 2010 by HiFi i Muzyka magazine.
